Russian Invasion of Ukraine – Mariupol Evacuation

ATTempts to rescue trapped civilians from the besieged southern city of Mariupol are underway for the second day.  Officials from Ukraine stated a new route had been agreed upon with Russian forces and would operational at 12:00 a.m. local time (10:00 GMT). It’s still unclear how this is playing out on the ground. Due to Russian assaults, a planned evacuation path was cancelled yesterday. Ukraine’s president has issued a warning that Russian soldiers are ready to shell Odesa, calling it a “historic atrocity.” According to Ukraine’s senior security officer, there are evidence that Russia’s war command is focusing on the southern front in order to cut Ukraine off from the Black Sea. However, there has been heavy combat to the north and west of Kyiv. Irpin, a little town near the capital that is at the head of a massive Russian convoy, has been hit by artillery and air attacks.
