FOOD AID WORKERS KILLED IN GAZA

Seven people working for food aid charity World Central Kitchen (WCK) have been killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims the strike was unintentional and will work to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The strike has been condemned by world leaders and aid agencies, who fear it will prevent critical aid from reaching those in need.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society has provided more details about the recovery of the killed aid workers’ bodies.

The strike could halt the food charity’s operations in Gaza, as famine looms. The dead were citizens of some of Israel’s closest allies, antagonizing them amid mounting international criticism of its nearly 6-month-old offensive in Gaza.

The Israeli air strike could also set back efforts by the US and other countries to open a maritime corridor for aid from Cyprus.

World Central Kitchen, the international food charity founded by chef José Andrés, announced early today that it was suspending aid operations following the airstrike killing its aid workers in Gaza.
