Immediate Justice Scheme Cuts Reoffending
A flagship rehabilitation programme offering alternatives to prosecution for low-level offences has recorded encouraging results.
The Immediate Justice scheme has received more than 500 referrals since its launch two years ago, with over 360 offenders completing community reparation work.
Participants carry out practical tasks including graffiti removal, litter clearing and maintaining public spaces. Officials report that only 12% of offenders who engaged with the programme reoffended, compared with 33% among those who declined to take part.
The scheme has supported improvement projects in more than 80 parks, footpaths and communal areas across the county, helping to deliver visible community benefits while reducing pressure on the criminal justice system.
Road Safety Funding Targets Speeding Concerns
Road safety remains a major concern for residents, prompting the Commissioner’s office to award £93,000 in grants to parish councils for local traffic-calming measures.

The project offers a structured and safe environment designed to divert young people away from antisocial behaviour, while supporting personal development and community engagement.
ID Scanning Technology Strengthens Night-Time Economy Safety
Safety measures across Northamptonshire’s nightlife sector have also been expanded, with ID scanning technology now funded in more than 20 late-night venues.
The technology enables door staff to verify identification documents and share information between venues about individuals banned for disorderly behaviour.
Funding for the system has been secured until 2028 following positive feedback from business owners and police.
Early Intervention Prevents Repeat
Missing Child Incidents
A joint early intervention scheme between the Commissioner’s office and police has helped prevent hundreds of children from repeatedly going missing.
Over a two-year period, 849 children were supported following initial missing incidents. Figures show that between 84% and 87% of young people did not go missing again after receiving targeted support aimed at addressing underlying issues and improving safeguarding outcomes.
Multi-Million Pound Fire Service Investment Announced
Emergency response capability across the county is being strengthened through a £5 million investment in new firefighting equipment.
The programme includes eight new fire engines, a 42-metre turntable ladder designed for high-rise rescues, and a new driver training appliance that can also serve as a reserve emergency vehicle.
