Man Fined Over £2,800 for Repeated Fly-Tipping in Corby

A Corby man has been fined nearly £2,900 after being caught on CCTV dumping bags of household rubbish in the same spot on two separate occasions.

Andrei Voloaca, 40, of Dovedale Road, admitted multiple fly-tipping offences at Wellingborough Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. He was ordered to pay £2,858.53 for depositing controlled waste without an environmental permit and for failing to take proper precautions to prevent the escape of waste.

North Northamptonshire Council said that on 7 March 2024, Voloaca was caught on CCTV unloading ten bags of rubbish next to charity recycling bins on Everest Lane, Corby. A week later, on 14 March, the same vehicle was spotted dumping more waste at the same location.

The footage, provided by Willow Place Town Centre Security, captured Voloaca’s car and led investigators to identify him as both the driver and registered owner.

Ken Harrington, a councillor with Reform UK and the council’s executive member for assets, waste and environmental services, said:

> “This case sends a clear message that we can and do take action against those who fly-tip. It will not be tolerated in any town, village or community in north Northants.”

He added that the council will continue to crack down on those who “blight our communities” through illegal waste disposal.

North Northamptonshire Council says it remains committed to tackling environmental offences and encourages residents to report fly-tipping wherever it occurs.
