Four teenagers have been arrested after a major fire broke out inside a Dunelm store at the St James Retail Park in Northampton.
The fire spread into the next-door Pets at Home store, which had to evacuate staff and animals.
Northamptonshire Police, led by Detective Insp Andrew Tuff, believe the fire was deliberately started and have made several fast-paced enquiries leading to the arrests.
Tuff appealed to the public for any information that could help their investigation, particularly a man who allegedly saw people setting fires in the Dunelm toilets before the incident was reported.

The incident caused significant damage and disruption, and would have a “serious effect” on Dunelm staff and surrounding stores.
The Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service remained at the scene through Saturday night before the blaze was brought under control by 10:20 on Sunday.

At the height of the fire, 11 fire crews and appliances were in attendance, alongside two aerial appliances. Crews were assisted by others from Buckinghamshire and Lincolnshire fire services.
The retail park is expected to remain closed for some time, with station commander Rich Walding advising people to avoid the area for the time being. Stores in the area are currently closed, and the decision will be reviewed this morning.
Towcester Road is expected to remain closed in both directions from the St Peter’s Way roundabout to the Shell Garage roundabout until 05:00 on Monday.
