Israel Bombs Iranian Consulate in Syria

Israeli aircraft targeted the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, killing and wounding several people, including Brig-Gen Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ overseas operations arm, the Quds Force.

The Syrian defence ministry said work was underway to recover bodies and rescue wounded from the rubble.

The Israeli military did not comment on foreign media reports. Israel has carried out hundreds of attacks on Iranian-linked targets in Syria in recent years, but rarely acknowledges the strikes. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported eight deaths.
