Prince William Meets President Biden discussing the Earthshot Prize

The Prince of Wales met US President Joe Biden in Boston and updated him on his Earthshot Prize.

The President met the Prince after a fortuitous last-minute diary change, and they spent 30 minutes discussing the Prince’s Earthshot Prize and the stories from the finalists.

At the second annual Earthshot Prize ceremony, celebrities including David Beckham and Billie Eilish walked the tree-lined green carpet before the Prince hailed five new winners.

The Princess took her early-years message to Harvard University, while Prince William visited the JFK Library and met the ex-President’s granddaughter, Caroline Kennedy.

The prize, now in its second year, will award £1 million to five winners each year for a decade. The Earthshot Prize was influenced by President John F. Kennedy’s idea of “moon shots,” which, in the years after the US attempt to land a man on the moon, have come to stand for bold and innovative objectives.

The Prince said humanity faces a challenge as seemingly insurmountable as placing a person on the moon, and that correcting the damage that has been done to earth and building a more sustainable enviromental future. The Prince declared in a call to action. He said it was necessary to take action to protect  the natural environment but added “Repairing our planet is not going to be easy”.
