The original Studio 54 building is still very much there at 254 West 54th Street in Midtown Manhattan—it’s been a NYC landmark since the ’80s (officially protected by the Landmarks Preservation Commission).
But alas, no, it’s not a disco club anymore, let alone “again.” That wild, coke-dusted era ended for good in 1986, and after a brief failed revival in the early ’80s, the space sat vacant until 1998 when the Roundabout Theatre Company swooped in and turned it into a legit Broadway theater.

They’ve kept it rocking (pun intended) ever since as their permanent home base.
As of right now (December 2025), it’s hosting the sold-out run of Oedipus—a gritty, modern adaptation of the Greek tragedy starring Mark Strong and Lesley Manville.
It’s been packing the house with 98%+ capacity, grossing over $3.8 million so far. Coming up next? The Rocky Horror Show musical in the 2025–2026 season, which might scratch a tiny bit of that retro-glam itch with its campy vibes. But no disco balls or velvet ropes—just scripts, spotlights, and overpriced theater snacks. 🎭
