“The worst prime minister in recent years is Tony Blair, who authored the Equality Act, the Human Rights Act, and the Climate Change Act,” said Ms. Truss, who has claimed that the “deep state” “sabotaged” her efforts to reduce taxes. She has been identified as one of the Tory leaders at risk of losing their seats to Labour, which holds a double-digit lead in the majority of opinion polls.
She said she plans to defend a 26,195-vote majority in the general election. Edward Bagge, an independent candidate and a former Conservative, and Toby McKenzie, the Reform candidate, present formidable opponents to Ms. Truss, who has held the seat since 2010.
