Roald Dahl’s – “The Hitchhiker”

Tales of the Unexpected was a collection of stories by Roald Dahl for his adult audience and a collection of stories that had previously appeared in his books “Kiss Kiss”; “Someone Like You”, and “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six more”.

“The Hitch-Hiker” is a short story by Roald Dahl that was originally published in the July 1977 issue of the Atlantic Monthly, and later included in Dahl’s short story collection The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More.

This story is told in another fictional first person narrative. The narrator in this case has a brand new BMW 3.3 Li, and is enjoying a trip down the highway when he spots a hitchhiker. He lets the man into his car; the passenger is described as being curiously rat-like, with long, white fingers.
