HOME OFFICE BCS RELEASED

The Home Office today published more detailed statistics about the nature
and extent of violent crime in England and Wales in 2006/07 (March 06 –
April 07). They include in-depth police recorded crime figures on homicides
and firearm offences and British Crime Survey (BCS) results for intimate
violence (partner and family abuse, sexual assault and stalking).

The figures confirm the provisional findings in last July’s main crime
volume that overall trends in homicide and firearm offences are down in
2006/07, by 2 per cent and 14 per cent respectively.
