42 Day Detention – Counter-Terrorism Bill 2008

Well it’s been passed. The new legislation that provides the courts and police the right to detain a suspected
terrorist – that can mean anyone of course – for up to 42 days . Yes, anyone suspected of terrorism can be
detained for up to 6 weeks without charge.

The new Counter-Terrorism bill covers this in Schedule 1 (6) .

Does increasing the limit make a difference on the some would say misjudged "War on Terror", or is it another
attack on our civil liberty.

Bob.
